November 2019: Our Favorite Events in Authentic Florida

We are so fortunate to live in a state with great activities and festivals all year long. With cooler temperatures knocking at our door, November is an awesome time to attend a festival or special event.

We’ve narrowed our November 2019 list down to a few events that sounded extra interesting … but there are sooooooo many more to explore. To keep up with our favorite Florida Festivals throughout the year, be sure to follow us on Facebook and visit our Events tab. 

Here are our 11 of our favorite festivals: 

Seminoles’ American Indian Arts Celebration, Clewiston
November 1 & 2


The festival offers art, music, dance, food, alligator wrestling, critter shows, and Seminole crafts — but also celebrates the diversity of native cultures with entertainers brought in from other tribes. Admission includes entrance into the award-winning Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Seminole Museum & Boardwalk, and parking. Admission is $10 (adults), $7.50 for Seniors/Students, Children 4 and under are free.

56th Annual Florida Seafood Festival, Apalachicola
November 1 & 2


Florida’s Oldest Maritime Event. This popular festival is held at the mouth of the Apalachicola river under the shady oaks of Apalachicola’s Battery Park. It features a Carnival, the Best Local Seafood, 100 Arts & Crafts Booths, Oyster Shucking and Eating Contests, Blue Crab Races, 5k Redfish Run, Parade, and more.

Great Gulfcoast Art Festival, Pensacola
November 1, 2 & 3


The Great Gulfcoast Art Festival is one of the best-regarded, most popular arts festivals in the USA. The three-day, juried art show draws more than 200 of the nation’s best painters, potters, sculptors, jewelers, graphic artists, craftsmen and other artists.

Festival also includes LIVE music and performances from local performing arts institutes. There will be a Children’s Arts Festival area with hands-on activities for kids, as well as a Heritage Arts section with demonstrations of traditional skills in the Heritage Arts. The Festival is free and open to the public.

49th Inverness Festival of the Arts, Inverness

This is the longest-running fine art show in Citrus County with free admission and free parking. This show hosts over 100 exhibitors in mediums such as glass, drawing, fiber, paint, jewelry, sculpture, wood, ceramics and digital art. The festival will also host a section for merchants with candles, baskets and crafts. This show has over $7,000 available in awards for competitors.

New this year, the Valerie Theatre will host a Meet the Artist reception on Saturday, Nov. 2 starting at 4:30 p.m. through 6:30 p.m. tickets available at ValerieTheatre.org.

Micanopy 45th Annual Fall Festival, Micanopy
November 2 & 3


For the past 45 years, thousands have gathered under the old oak trees of the Micanopy Fall Festival. The many local artists, crafters and musicians represent works from all over the Southeast. Along with over two hundred displays of arts and crafts, we host multiple food and drink vendors. Our entertainment stage plays host to a variety of good-time music throughout the festival. An old time auction of items donated by participating vendors takes place Saturday afternoon at the stage located by the gazebo.

57th Annual Halifax Art Festival, downtown Daytona Beach
November 2 & 3

The Halifax Art Festival, benefiting the Museum of Arts & Sciences in Daytona Beach, FL, has come a long way since its beginning as a tiny outdoor art show in an alley on Beach Street with original art pinned to clotheslines. Over 30,000 people are expected to attend. The Halifax Art Festival is the 2nd oldest continual art festival in the state of Florida. It takes place at Riverfront Park on historic downtown Beach Street stretching from Orange Avenue to Bay Street.

32nd Annual Sponge Docks Seafood Festival, Tarpon Springs
November 8, 9, & 10

 

The Sponge Docks Seafood Festival will take place along Dodecanese Blvd. The event will provide plenty of tasty choices to please everyone’s palate, including non-seafood items for landlubbers. Continuous live music is once again offered all weekend long, featuring local and regional musicians. Specifically selected artisans, craftsmen and other vendors will show and sell nautical and food-related art, crafts, fishing apparel, kitchen and cooking items, food samples and much more.

38th Annual Downtown Gainesville Festival & Art Show, Gainesville
November 16 & 17

The streets of historic downtown Gainesville, from City Hall to the Hippodrome State Theatre will be transformed into a celebration of art and creativity complete with live music, performing arts and a spectacular array of food. More than 100,000 art lovers will fill the streets to enjoy and purchase one-of-a-kind artwork.

The festival features 240 local and national artists displaying original oils and acrylics, vibrant watercolors, unique sculptures, dazzling jewelry, decorative ceramics and vivid photography. Children can create their own art at the Imagination Station, a free hands-on art activity area including sidewalk-chalk drawing, painting, mask design, puppet creation, clay sculpting and interactive entertainment.

For music lovers enjoy continuous, live entertainment on four stages by local bands, solo musicians and dance companies.

Miami Book Fair, Miami
November 17 – 24


First called Books by the Bay in 1984, the two-day street fair has evolved into the largest and finest book fair in America. Attendance grew steadily and, by the late 1990s, hundreds of thousands of book lovers were eagerly participating in the annual literary festival. Since then, the Fair has blossomed to encompass numerous special programs including Evenings With …, Ibero-American Authors Program, Children’s Alley, Student Literary Encounters and Antiquarian Annex.

Yankeetown Arts and Crafts and Seafood Festival, Yankeetown
November 23 & 24

 

Seafood, Festival Food, Arts Crafts Information Fun Music and Games! Free Admission-Free Parking. Join the Inglis- Yankeetown Florida Lions each year, the weekend before Thanksgiving, for the annual Yankeetown Arts & Seafood Festival – Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 9am to 4pm.

Yankeetown is located on the Withlacoochee River just a short drive away from the Gulf of Mexico. In addition to a variety of seafood and other delicious foods, there are over one hundred arts & crafts vendors, games and entertainment. Proceeds from this event support Lions activities related to sight, hearing, diabetes and other community needs.

40th Annual Thanksgiving Bluegrass Festival, Brooksville
November 28, 29 & 30

Looking for a unique way to spend your Thanksgiving weekend? Excellent bands, beautiful venue and all-day youth programs. 100% of the proceeds from the festival go directly to the Sertoma Youth Ranch to continue its mission to provide a rustic outdoor recreational area for the children free of charge.
