Last Updated on January 18, 2024

Foxtail Coffee Co. continues to expand throughout Florida. What started as a small dream has become a popular café chain in the Sunshine State.

Offering a variety of coffee drinks, such as lattes, espresso, and cold brew, Foxtail Coffee has quickly become a local favorite over the past few years.

How It Started

The Foxtail Coffee story starts with two kids who met in kindergarten in South Florida. In 2016, the pair (Alex Tchekmeian and Iain Yeakle) combined their business and coffee experience to create Foxtail Coffee Co., a café that opened in a warehouse in Winter Park

Foxtail Coffee was founded on some simple principles: “to roast great coffee that guests can enjoy in an inviting and comfortable environment.” The company prides itself on serving fine, fresh, ethically-source coffee from environmentally-friendly farms.

Since Foxtail Coffee opened its first location in 2016, the company has opened 55 other locations in Florida and two in Georgia.

The business has a strong presence in Orlando, with many cafés in the area. New locations are popping up in Mount DoraGainesvilleSt. Pete, and in other cities in the Sunshine State.

Foxtail Coffee is focused on expanding in Florida and continuing to scale in the Southeast.

Their flagship store expanded in 2018 with the addition of Foxtail’s Farmhouse, an extension of their original location. The Farmhouse serves small bar bites, wine, and experimental coffee offerings.

New Concepts and Collaborations

Foxtail Coffee has expanded its flagship location once again. In 2022, Foxtail Coffee announced a new concept known as Winter Park Social House.

This concept expanded the 3,800-square-foot space to about 10,000 square feet. In addition to Foxtail Coffee, Winter Park Social House houses several other local businesses.

The idea is reminiscent of Orlando Milkhouse, a collaboration between Foxtail Coffee, Ravenous Pig Brewing, and Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream, located in the heart of the Orlando Milk District. The Orlando Milkhouse opened in 2021.

Winter Park Social House is a collaboration between Foxtail Coffee, Swine & Sons, Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream, the Courtesy, and other businesses.

Swine & Sons serves Southern-inspired meals, Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream serves signature and original ice cream flavors, and the Courtesy has a full liquor bar and serves craft cocktails.

Differing from a food hall, Winter Park Social House has each business operating independently. Each business has its own entranceway and operating hours.

The expansion will allow Foxtail Coffee to host tours and classes. Winter Park Social House also has a shared outdoor courtyard space where the businesses can host special events and pop-up programming.

The property is situated next to Winter Park’s future Progress Point urban park development, a new park for the community that will include green space and live oak trees. Progress Point will also have more public parking and outdoor community event programming for Downtown Winter Park.
