Little Havana is Miami’s bustling Cuban heart. It runs west of Downtown Miami, between Brickell and Coral Gables, and its epicenter is the legendary Calle Ocho.

In the 1960s, as the number of exiled Cubans residing in the area increased dramatically, the neighborhood became known as “Little Havana”, a lively Cuban district, full of cafes, restaurants, and music bars.

In recent years, people from Central and South America have moved to Little Havana, mainly from Nicaragua and other Central American countries, but the Cuban mark is still strong.

Today, Little Havana continues to be a significant starting point for Latin immigrants who bring their music, tastes, and tireless spirit to this thriving community.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation declared Little Havana a National Treasure in 2017. This was a critical step in preserving the area’s historical and cultural relevance as developers in Miami poured in.
