You can keep avocado ready to eat by placing it in the refrigerator when you bring it home. However, this can quickly turn into a moment where you miss out on optimal avocado time.

Instead, it can help to use our tip below to freeze your avocadoes to keep them, fresher, and longer.

How to keep mashed avocado from turning brown

  • Take your fresh avocados, remove the peel and seed, and mash them in a bowl.
  • Use a small cookie scoop and place your small scoops of avocado onto a pan.
  • Place the pan in the freezer and let the avocados harden up for a few hours.
  • Once the avocados have hardened, remove them from the pan and place them into gallon Ziploc bags.
  • When you’re ready to eat, take your avocado out of the freezer to thaw. It will take about an hour for the frozen avocado to fully thaw. Then you can enjoy an avocado that doesn’t turn brown.
