We normally don’t write about the BIG theme parks unless there is something going on that we consider “Authentic Florida” … or … if it has anything to do with things we love like Florida Orange Bird or FLAMINGOS (yes, we’re slightly obsessed)! And now, you can see the Discovery Cove flamingos for yourself at their Flamingo Mingle!
If you’ve never been to Discovery Cove, an all-inclusive day resort in Orlando, it’s definitely worth putting on your bucket list. Although it’s a bit pricey, they do offer discounts for Florida residents and people in the military.
The early-morning mingle is run by Discovery Cove’s expert aviculturists, and you are able to go on a private tour to meet the flamboyant flamingos! Not only will you get to meet and mingle with the flamingos, but you’ll also get to help feed them and wade in the cool reef waters together. Although these are Caribbean flamingos, in our eyes, they are Authentic Floridians! When/if they have babies, the next generation will be Florida Natives.
There will be a photographer there to capture the magic of your mingle! Make sure to ask lots of great questions, because the experts know absolutely everything about these Discovery Cove flamingos and are happy to share how they are cared for.
