Whether it’s an excursion for yourself or the young children in your life, making time to see some of the famous Florida Mermaids across the Sunshine State is certainly worth the effort and will create memories to last a lifetime.
The selection of parks and aquariums that offer a spectacular and mystical creatures show of Florida Mermaids is plentiful and should be added to your Florida itinerary.
Where to See Florida Mermaids
Below we’ve listed 6 of our favorite magical places to see Florida Mermaids:
Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, Spring Hill
The unassuming town of Spring Hill, Florida, in Hernando County, plays host to one of Florida’s top roadside attractions – the Weeki Wachee Mermaid attraction at Weeki Wachee State Park.
Currently, the Weeki Wachee mermaid show is a version of Hans Christian Andersen’s tale of the Little Mermaid.
You can view the underwater show featuring the mermaids of Weeki Wachee Springs from dry seats in the Newton Perry amphitheater.
Weeki Wachee is one of the top remaining old Florida attractions. Park visitors may take a wonderful boat tour or paddling adventure that explores the natural spring and native wildlife.
There’s also a water park on the property called Buccaneer Bay where you splash and slide into 72-degree water.
It’s also to be noted that mermaid auditions are very popular and require special skills, such as the ability to breathe using an air hose and to move gracefully in the mermaid costumes.
Check out the park’s Facebook page for additional information on how to be a part of a show and when to submit a job application to this star attraction.
The wonders of Weeki are located at the intersection of S.R. 50 and Hwy. 19, just 45 minutes north of Tampa and 2 hours west of Orlando.
