The Wynwood Art District
Art galleries and museums are found throughout the Wynwood area of Miami.
This area is often referred to as Florida’s Wynwood Art District.
Street art and more than a dozen museums and art galleries make it a popular destination for locals as well as visitors.
Wynwood is an open-air museum unto itself. However, this once-industrial area has become a hotspot for art galleries, trendy clubs, and some of Miami’s greatest restaurants.
The Wynwood Walls
Wynwood Walls are a must-see. Situated in the core of Wynwood, Wynwood Walls has turned the district’s former industrial structures into a continuously evolving outdoor art museum … that keeps expanding.
It’s the first and only outdoor museum dedicated to street art in Miami.
It was founded in 2009 by visionary developer Tony Goldman. Wynwood Walls has become a dynamic hub of artistic expression, boasting an array of murals with their vivid hues and intricate designs.
New murals inject an extra dose of vitality into the area, ensuring the neighborhood’s vibrant spirit.
This collaborative effort involves numerous artists and businesses, all contributing to the enhancement of Miami.
At Art Basel, the walls are painted over for a new show every year and feature international graffiti and street artists working on relevant contemporary problems.
Art Basel Miami is December 4, 2024, through December 8, 2024.
NOTE: General admission provides entry to Wynwood Walls, featuring more than 35 spray-painted murals, two urban art galleries, and retail stores.
In addition, visitors can take advantage of free Wi-Fi and engage with the official Wynwood Walls Museum App.
Visiting the exhibition used to be FREE, but now there’s a fee of $12 per person charged at the entrance.
