These Halloween events happen to be sprinkled throughout the Sunshine State, so we recommend planning a weekend getaway and exploring the surrounding areas. They are all in destinations chock full of Authentic Florida treasures.

    Happy Frights Haunting Nights – Orlando, FL

    While Orlando is known for events at theme parks like Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights and The Magic Kingdom’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World, there are other great local options to check out.

    Happy Frights Haunting Nights offers visitors two different experiences this Halloween season.

    Happy Frights is a fun event suitable for young children, including a neon light maze and trick-or-treat station.

    After dark, the garden hosts Haunting Nights, a spookier Halloween attraction for visitors 13 and up. Explore the gardens and be prepared for a few jump scares.

    Fright Nights on Main Street – DeFuniak Springs, FL

    More information: Fright Nights on Main Street is a haunted experience in Northwest Florida celebrating its 5th anniversary.

    Located on Main Street DeFuniak Springs, this 9-night event includes thrilling scares for visitors ages 13 and up.

    Goblin Gathering – Bradenton, FL

    Gators, Ghosts, and Goblins – Orlando, FL

    More information: Gatorland holds its 5th annual Gators, Ghosts, and Goblins Halloween event on weekends beginning on October 14th.

    It is a daytime, family-friendly experience with live entertainment, haunt zones, a children’s Halloween costume parade, and animal meet-and-greets.

    May-Stringer Haunted House & GhostFest – Brooksville, FL

    More information: GhostFest is a scare house Halloween event held at the May-Stringer Museum in Brooksville. Join them on family day for all-day fun with fortune tellers, craft activities, a kid’s area, local vendors, and food trucks.

    At 7 pm, doors to the scare house will open for a thrilling experience for the older kids and adults.

    Haunted Jail Tour – Bartow, FL

    Fantasy Fest – Key West, FL

    More information: If your favorite part of Halloween is dressing in costumes and having fun, Fantasy Fest is a must-attend event. It is a 10-day party for adults that takes place in Key West.

    The event started in 1979 and grew larger every year. It’s now a 10-day celebration.

    Not So Spooky HallowFest – Port Orange, FL

    More information: The Night Market Plus Zombietoberfest is a huge Halloween event in Orlando’s Audubon Park neighborhood.

    The event is pet-friendly and will include tons of market vendors, craft beer gardens, costume contests, and a free outdoor movie.

    Spooky Secrets of the Stars – Fort Walton Beach, FL

    More information: The Emerald Coast Science Center will be hosting a planetarium special feature.

    Spooky Secrets of the Stars, is a unique Halloween experience where kids can dress in costume, trick-or-treat, and listen to spooky family-friendly stories on the floor of the science center’s inflatable dome planetarium. 

    The 5 pm and 6 pm shows are appropriate for kids 5 and up. The 7 pm show is a little spookier and geared toward kids 8 and up.

    Suwannee Hulaween – Live Oak, FL

    More information: Halloween Symphony Spooktacular is a free Halloween concert will be held in Cascades Park. The event will include trick-or-treating, costumes, and Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra performances of classic spooky songs.

    More information: Winter Haven Saturday Markets is hosting its 2nd Annual Halloween Trick or Treat event in Central Park. There will be over 80 different vendors selling everything from arts and crafts to delicious food. 

    Halloween costumes are encouraged, with a costume contest everyone can compete in – even your dogs! Have a good time listening to live music, winning prizes, and more at this event.

    More information: Each year, the Boynton Beach Haunted Pirate Fest & Mermaid Splash attracts people of all ages to Downtown Boynton Beach for various swashbuckling adventures.

    Visitors, who are encouraged to attend in pirate, mermaid, or other maritime-themed attire, will be immersed in the theme of the festival as they interact with a variety of roaming actors, street performers, and musicians.

    This is one of the best family-friendly October events in Florida since it transforms the downtown area into a bustling port reminiscent of the Renaissance era.

    Haunted 904 Pop Up – Jacksonville Beach, FL
